Watch a sword fighting demo and even get some hands on experience!
11:30 AM -“Stede Bonnet- The Gentleman Pirate”
Performed by Rodney Lee Rogers, Pure Theater
Location- Upstairs Conference Room
A PURE Theatre production, Rodney Lee Rogers' original play is an interactive theatrical event that brings to life the trials and glories of the "Gentleman Pirate" Stede Bonnet.
12:00 PM- Pirates & Parrots
Eric & Sabrina Lavender w/ Bob & Doozer
Wayne Teele w/ Tikki Bird
Location-Upstairs Conference Room
Is the popular image of a pirate with a bird on their shoulder correct? Join our avian friends Captain Bob, Tikki Bird and Doozer for a roundtable discussion on this cherished myth. Their human handlers Wayne Teele, Eric Lavender and Sabrina Lavender will also be on hand to translate for us! Don’t miss your chance learn more about these wonderful creatures and their ties to the Golden Age of Piracy!
12:30 PM Children’s Costume Contest

First is the Lil’ Buccaneer for ages 5 and under, the First Mate category for ages 6-9 and the Rovers category for ages 10-13. Prizes to the winners! There is no contest for adults (this year)!
1:00 PM Meet the Pirates: Blackbeard, Stede Bonnet, Mary Read, Ann Bonney & Grace O’Malley

Performed by Eric Lavender, Charleston Pirate Tours
Join local expert Eric Lavender, and his trusty macaw Captain Bob, as he spins tales of pirates that once plagued Charleston. Eric and Captain Bob will be marauding about the festival throughout the day!
2:00 PM Piracy in the Modern Age
Lecture- Chris Downey
Location-Upstairs Conference Room
Piracy in the Modern Age- Piracy did not end with the hanging of Stede Bonnet, or the death of Blackbeard. Pirates adapt with the times and continue to be a problem in the 21st century. Author and historian Chris Downey will share with us the ongoing threat still facing the world.
2:30 PM Children’s Musket Drill
Location- Outside Green
Learn how the muskets of old were loaded and fired. A group of period costumed instructors will take through each of the steps.
2:30 PM Colonial Songs & Sea Shanties
Location- Charleston Maritime Center Upstairs Conference Room- look for the signs.

FOOD- For those of you might get a mite peckish during the festival Sandlapper Water Tours will have snacks, water and soda available for sale. Charleston Harbor Tours also has a small shop on-site available with some snacks and beverages.
